The Prime Function Of Keeping Medical Records - 1917 Words
The prime function of keeping medical records is for all health workers to be able to readily access important medical information when required. This will include details of treatments, allergies, medication health conditions, tests; results etc. (NHS, 2013). This data is also used to improve services provided by the NHS (NHS, 2013). The NHS claim to take the issue of patient privacy extremely seriously however is this really the case. A review of relevant literature has been carried out in order to determine the extent to which the NHS safeguards patient records. There are many issues which need to be considered whilst discussing the matter of patient privacy; there are social and ethical issues as well as professional and legislativeâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The NHS which has been accumulating information from the 1980ââ¬â¢s is said to have some of the best information systems in the world (NHS, 2014). However how secure is this sensitive patient data amid growing privacy concerns. The NHS has recently been criticised for the mismanagement of patient records however is their justification defensible. Confidentiality is an ethical duty and it is crucial that patient data is kept confidential. Lowth (2013) states that ââ¬Å"patient confidentiality is fundamental to good medical practiceâ⬠. Patient consent must be taken when medical data is disclosed to any party however information can be disclosed without consent in two situations, firstly if the disclosure is required by law (e.g. court orders and police) and secondly if the disclosure is in the public interest (e.g. road traffic legislation, government authorities such as the DVLA or incidents such where physical harm has been caused to a being then doctors must disclose details to the police (Lowth, 2013). In 2013 a data extraction programme was called for which allows the sharing of confidential patient information with research organisations, commissioners and private firms (Pulse, 2013). The legality of this agenda had been questioned as many trained hackers would have sensitive patient data readily available to them through the Department of Health. The NHS justify this record sharing initiative in a short publication (2014) which states that better

Introduction to Computing Robotic-Assisted Heller Myotomy
Question: Describe about the Introduction to Computing for Robotic-Assisted Heller Myotomy? Answer: Introduction In the modern world, contemporary computing occupies a large space that includes several modern technologies for achieving large targets using innovative process. This concept of modern computing came into visible in 9th centuries. Modern and developed technologies are investing year after year using innovative technologies of computing over the base computing process (Afaneh et al., 2015). Modern assemblages of computing are developed using a top and latest technologies with sophisticated tools that involve a high-speed performance of CPU, database networking, and data transaction. Computing technologies with smarter and faster specifications made the personal and corporate life easier. The individual life of the people in case of technological and social networking became faster and easier with the help of contemporary computing present in several electronic devices. The impacts of computing in the science and modern technologies give several clear ideas about new innovative progre ssion in the life of the individuals and organizations for future development (Bogue, 2013). Actor Network theory Michel Callon and Bruno Latour are the inventors of the Actor Network Theory (ANT) and develop it during their work. According to the descriptions given by them, Actor Network Theory (ANT) can be described as a network in which the interaction and communication can be done by both human and non-human actors. These both human and non-human actors in the network are known as actants. The base of this theory established on the study of science and technologies and also their impacts on the network of the human and non-human actants (Volarik, 2013). Human actors developed a strong relation with the electronic devices such as mobile, computer, tablet and other devices in case of developing new and modern technologies in case of advancing to old technologies (Campuzano and Luis Poy, 2013). ANT theory provides the basic ideas regarding the usage of electronic devices in the life of the human to make it easier. The whole network is analyzed using the theory of ANT which provides the idea of the both social and technological view regarding the provided network. In the study of science, a large space occupies by the theory of ANT. Modern technologies of computing can also be described using Actor Network Theory (ANT), provides the relation between the actants and the society in which they act. The passages through which the relation between the actants is continued are known as the token. Also, there are several arguments regarding the interactions between human and non-human actants that can explain using the Actor Network Theory (ANT). Usefulness of studying Actor Network Theory (ANT) Studying Actor Network Theory (ANT) is useful as it provides several characteristics that include social and technological activities. In the discussion of contemporary assemblage, Actor Network Theory (ANT) provides the interactions among both human and non-human actants. Regarding finding different aspects of the modern computing technologies, ANT helps to determine several positive and negative impacts of modern assemblage. The knowledge required to understand the theory of ANT should be related to social science and networking in the field of a computer with advanced technologies (Ceurstemont, 2010). As ANT theory provides the interaction between the actants in the network hence, the idea of the network is essential in the discussion of ANT. The social network is the main passage through which people interact with the electronic devices that are required to understand the interaction held in the network of ANT. The discussion that is done using the Actor Network Theory (ANT) main ly based on the survey and the case studies and in case of evaluating this, the knowledge of network technology is required. Social and modern technologies provide the knowledge about the assemblage of the computing in case of discussing the stories that are related to the different level of technologies and social facts (Volarik, 2013). Story1: Oracle cloud: the next generation public cloud Public cloud is adapted in about 88percent of organization in the world. Most of the analysts represent the public cloud as the hyper-innovation phase. The public cloud provides several benefits to the organizations with respect to the customer experience, agility, and cost. Also the way on which organization compete are provided by the public cloud of the organization. Many organizations are using the first-generation cloud in their service (SUSMAN, 2010). This is because they are habituated to it. But it is the time to use the modern cloud which includes the multi-cloud universe through which the applications and the data can be transferred with high speed in-between the private, public and hybrid cloud that can also be accessed by the devices that are used by the employees and customers (Chang, 2012). Oracle cloud can represent as the next generation cloud. The facilities that includes in the Oracle cloud are such as flexible infrastructure with an integrated environment, comprehe nsive business application portfolio and a platform with a powerful standard. The offers that are given by the oracle cloud and unique and are not provided by any other cloud. Oracle Cloud also provides several services such as Software as a service (SaaS), Platform as a service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a service (IaaS). Also, several benefits provided by the Oracle cloud to the organization are such managing database, integrate the business, best security and cost efficiency. The needs of the new IT professionals of the organizations are to develop an integrated infrastructure that can deploy and also can update the software according to their requirements. The developer of the Oracle Cloud tried to provide all the required solutions to the organization in case of implement all the important requirement in the service of the modern cloud. Oracle Cloud also provides assurance about the security of the data of the enterprise (Furuichi and Yamada, 2014). Actants: In the Oracle cloud system, there is role of several actants such as human and non-human entities. In the category of the human actants, it includes the developer of Oracle cloud, manager of organizations, customers, and employees. The non-human actants present in this story are such as database management, cost efficiency, and the security system. This story can be discussed by using the Actor Network Theory (ANT). According to the theory, a cloud can be said as the network that is the interaction passage between the human and non-human actants of this story (Muhic and Johansson, 2014). The cloud system can also be scale as software actants which helps the human actants to connect with the non-human actants of the story. Story2: Toyota robot can pick up after people and help the sick The new robot of Toyota called HSR (human support robot) is developed in case of doing a single task i.e. picking the things up. The mechanism that is available to HSR s that it has only one arm using that it can pick objects of different size and shape. Also, it can pick up the tiny items by using the tiny suction cup. A computer panel is available on the head of the robot through which the internet surfing is done. The robot can also be accessed from another computer and can use it as a camera. Kouichi Ikeda, engineer of the Toyota robot, designed it in case of helping the people in their homes. His aim is to help the disable people first and then to the elder people. The people who have problems in their spinal cord and also the other people who cannot bend down can get help from this robot. Robots are the modern technologies that are developed to help the human being in their work and also help them to live their life easier (Noam, 2014). The modern computing technologies are use d in the development of HSR to make it more useful to the people. The robot can controls by using a tablet or a remote of the TV. Also, the grips and bumps are designed so soft so that it cannot harm anybody. The most drawback of this technology is the price. To reduce the cost of the robot there required a mass production. It is declared that the current price is given by Toyota. Actants: The Actor-Network Theory (ANT) is used to study the story of the Toyota robot i.e. HSR. In this story, the human actants can be described as the designer of the robot i.e. Ikeda and the general people. There are several non-human actants such as Toyota robot HSR, programming of HSR, and the tools used to develop the robot. This can be said as the digital actants as the robot can be handled y the people digitally using a remote system (Paka, 2013). ANT theory also gives the description how the human actants can get help by using the Toyota's robot in their normal life. Conclusion Contemporary computing in the modern world improves the lifestyle of our living by including several modern technologies and also by innovate the old technologies using the advancement. The above discussed stories are explained on the basis of the Actor Network Theory (ANT) which has several human and non-human actants that are connected with each other in a network. Social and networking technologies act on the contemporary computing to provide several assemblages to the human and nonhuman actants of the ANT theory. Also, it is suitable to use the ANT theory in the case of explaining the stories of the Oracle cloud and the robot. References List Afaneh, C., Finnerty, B., Abelson, J. and Zarnegar, R., 2015. Vitiligo Essay Example
Vitiligo Essay Vitiligo is a medical condition that causes the skin to lose color. Some people develop a few spots that may lighten or turn completely white. Others can have widespread loss of skin color. Vitiligo can develop on any part of the body but commonly begins on hands, forearms, feet, or face. There is no way to predict how much color a person will lose. Vitiligo occurs when melanocytes, the cells dependable for skin pigmentation, die or cannot function because of autoimmune disorders, genetic, oxidative stress, neural, or viral causes. As the cells die, an area of skin or hair turns white because the cells no longer make pigment. People who develop vitiligo usually first notice white patches on their skin. These patches are more commonly found on sun-exposed areas of the body, including the hands, feet, arms, face, and lips. Other common areas for white patches to appear are the around the mouth, eyes, nostrils, and navel. There are many treatments to improve the appearance of the affected skin including, but not limited to skin grafting and blister grafting. Self-care steps, such as using sunscreen and applying cosmetic camouflage cream, may improve the appearance of your skin. For fair-skinned individuals, avoiding tanning can make the areas almost unnoticeable. State Names and Abbreviations
State Names and Abbreviations State Names and Abbreviations State Names and Abbreviations By Mark Nichol How should you treat references to states? The form depends on which style guide you adhere to and why the state is being referenced. Details about how to refer to states follow. The Chicago Manual of Style and The Associated Press Stylebook agree on one thing: When referring to a state on its own, spell the state name out (ââ¬Å"California became a state in 1850â⬠). However, when referring to a city and the state in which it is located, although Chicago recommends retaining the spelled-out version of the state name (ââ¬Å"San Diego, Californiaâ⬠), AP style calls for abbreviating the state name (ââ¬Å"San Diego, Calif.â⬠) if it consists of more than six letters. (Chicago also has abbreviations if you insist, but they donââ¬â¢t always match APââ¬â¢s style.) The AP style abbreviations arbitrarily range in length from two to six letters, and all two-word names are abbreviated with the initials, such as N.Y. for ââ¬Å"New Yorkâ⬠with the exception of West Virginiaââ¬â¢s abbreviation, which for some reason is rendered W.Va. (Note that AP style omits state names for a specified list of cities considered familiar enough that the state in which they are located need not be mentioned.) In headlines, the periods are omitted. However, when giving an address, or in tables or other uses in which space is limited, use the US Postal Serviceââ¬â¢s symbol system, which consists of a two-letter abbreviation in which both letters are always capitalized and no periods are used (for example, NY for ââ¬Å"New Yorkâ⬠). Other style handbooks have their own guidelines, so, if you are writing or editing for a particularly company as a staff member or a freelancer, determine which resource is considered the authority on state abbreviation. Note, too, that abbreviation of country names is rare and not recommended. US and UK are frequently used as nouns in informal contexts, but the names should be spelled out except as adjectives ââ¬Å"the US response,â⬠for example, or ââ¬Å"the UKââ¬â¢s roleâ⬠and Chicago recommends omitting periods in these cases, as is advised for all capitalized abbreviations. Avoiding System Development Pitfalls in the IT Decision Making Dissertation
Avoiding System Development Pitfalls in the IT Decision Making Processes - Dissertation Example Likewise, a brief observation of these categorized characteristics of various applications, many categories have been projected. Sprague and Watson proposed the performance dimension of the systems can be categorized or can be divided in to four levels i.e. basic data processing systems, integrated data processing systems, management information systems and decision support systems (Hogue, 1985). However, the research and technology for the DSS continue to revolutionize and by 1996, Whinton and Holsapple proposed five particular types of DSS. These specialized DSS types were text-oriented DSS, database-oriented DSS, spread-sheet-oriented DSS, solver-oriented DSS, and rule-oriented DSS (Power,). Moreover, these last four DSS types were again divided into seven categories proposed by Arnott and Pervan (Burstein & Holsapple,). The seven categories are (Burstein & Holsapple,) personal DSS, group support systems, negotiation support systems, intelligent DSS, knowledge management-based DSS , executive information systems/business intelligence, and data warehousing. However, these sub categories overlaps with some of them but they introduced a diverse advancement of past research. Afterwards, these four levels were categorized as transaction processing systems (TPS), Management Information Systems (MIS) and Decision Support Systems (DSS). Information Technology has revolutionized. Business organization dependent on information systems, cater information for decision making. The revolutionized information technology completely modified the business structure and the information required for decision making process. A term called strategic management focuses on building a powerful competitive advantage. It also involves the development of corporate strategy along with the management of the organization according to that strategy (Strategic management.2007). The BRAC university has launched a world class Integrated library system (ILS) (BRAC university launches integrated library system koha dhaka, bangladesh ââ¬â koha - open source ILS - integrated library system). It is ââ¬Å"an interrelated group of computer programs that automates multiple library operationsâ⬠(Ebenezer, 2002). The ILS will redefine customer services by advance information technology services that will enhance the process of delivering both electronic information and printed documents. Keeping in mind the long term perspective, the strategic goals for the ILS are constructed as: The infrastructure of the library will be enhanced and well maintained Maximizing the access to the customers for the printed information resources (not digital). Maximizing access to the customer of digital information resources. Establishing strategic affiliation with other libraries locally and globally including schools, colleges and universities. Build learning environments in all accessible locations connected with the library. The strategic goals are to define the libraryââ¬â¢s strate gic plan and as well as Information technology strategic plan. The current infrastructure has inadequate capacity, size and functionality which are not fulfilling user requirements. Current system has issues related to performance and functionality which is affecting the users. The system cannot be maintained as it needs to be re-designed. The decision for the replacement of the system was made because of

Parphrase final report ( protuos programme ) Essay
Parphrase final report ( protuos programme ) - Essay Example In these Lab findings, the evaluation as well as processing of the signals is done through various techniques that can be expressed on a seven segment display. Therefore, for the process to be meaningful, it needs to employ different reliable stages of amplifications, as well as conversion. In order to attain these intensifications there are various number of means that one can use, some can be very simple while others can be perplexing (Van der Spuy, 2012). The findings will give a primary basis in the comprehension of various circuits as well as some major Analogue components. In addition, it will ensure there is the proper understanding of Proteus that is the computer simulation equipment. The principal intention of the research is to carry out the sampling process of a motor speed. The strategy of an amp is to be produced. The range of the current sample will have the following range. That is; from -2.5 to 2.5 m Amplifier. The initial step was to change the signal from that particular current to signal voltages that range from 2 ââ¬â 3 Volts. The following step requires the filtration of the signal by employing a low pass filter and avoiding any signal that operates over 100 Hz. After the completion of this particular phase, there will be diversification of focus to the digital side of the circuit. There will also be the employment of an analogue converter that is the A 8 bit to change the current voltage signal into an eight-bit digital signal. There will also be processing of eight bit signal to give a two-bit indication in bit hex decimal on the two seven section showing devices that indicate the moving speed of that particular motor in 0-255 scales. In this particular section of the findings, the process indication as well as the workings calculations are all carried out together. The complete scheme has been subdivided into different

Rhetorical Analysis on An Elementary School in Slum Essay Example for Free
Rhetorical Analysis on An Elementary School in Slum Essay The poem ââ¬Å"An Elementary School Classroom in a Slumâ⬠by Stephen Spender, begins with a stanza depicting the worrying condition of the students in elementary school. As the poem extends further, Spender points out the corruptions in the Government and accuses it for paying little attention to childrenââ¬â¢s education and health conditions. He argues that the children should break through the confinement of slum, and embrace the beauty of nature. In the slum, Children do not have pleasant moments; they are far away from the ââ¬Å"gusty wavesâ⬠, and far away from the fields and playgrounds that supposed to accompany them along their childhood memories. They also do not have healthy bodies. A simile compares their hair to ââ¬Å"rootles weedâ⬠, which shows that the children are severely malnourished, and are not taken care of. The boy is ââ¬Å"paper-seemingâ⬠, and ââ¬Å"of twisted bonesâ⬠. The ââ¬Å"tall girl with her weighed-down headâ⬠implies the fact that she might be looked down by others, and she is physiologically and psychologically fatigue. However, there is ââ¬Å"one unnoted, sweet and youngâ⬠kid, at the back of the classroom, whose ââ¬Å"eyes live in a dream, of squirrelââ¬â¢s game. â⬠We can see a glimmer of hope from this sweet kid, however, we are not sure if he is simply lost in the ââ¬Å"squirrelââ¬â¢s gameâ⬠. The school is poorly equipped with donations such as Shakespeareââ¬â¢s portrait that decorates on the ââ¬Å"sour cream walls. â⬠The picture of ââ¬Å"cloudless at dawn, civilized dome riding all citiesâ⬠is in sharp contrast to the dusty sky and shabby building of elementary school in reality. The kidsââ¬â¢ future is painted with a fog under a ââ¬Å"lead sky. â⬠The depiction of turbid sky created an atmosphere of despair and hopelessness. Not only the childrenââ¬â¢s future is foggy and blurred, but also their lives are monotonous and insipid, ââ¬Å"far far from rivers, capes, and the stars of words. The children are confined to the school in slum as well as their imagination. William Shakespeare, the greatest playwright and poet in English language, is ââ¬Å"wickedâ⬠to them, because they cannot appreciate the splendidness of language. And ââ¬Å"the map is a bad example, with ships and sun and love tempting them to steal. â⬠The map gives chil dren the taste of charming nature; however, instead of igniting the light of hope, it falsely tempts the children to acquire their goals even at the cost of stealing. They live in ââ¬Å"cramped holesâ⬠, a limited and narrow space, with ââ¬Å"slag heapâ⬠all around them. Their study environment and living conditions are horrible, that they cannot maintain healthy body, let alone receiving appropriate education. Their future is like ââ¬Å"mended glass,â⬠foggy and blurred, full of despair. The school only operates when ââ¬Å"governor, teacher, inspector, visitorâ⬠come to observe, so it does not provide serious teaching. Consequently, ââ¬Å"this map becomes their window and these windows that shut upon their lives like catacombs. â⬠The slum limits the studentsââ¬â¢ horizon, like catacombs, and the maps are the only way for them to see the world outside. They live in a dream that can never come true as long as they are still in the slum. At last, the poet envisions the students break through the confinement of slum, and finally they can embrace the beautiful nature, that was once on the map but far away from them. Spender harshly criticizes the governmentââ¬â¢s nonchalance towards the poverty-stricken children, and he appeals to all the people to pay more attention to the children and help ameliorate their education and health conditions. So that they can ââ¬Å"show the children green fields and make their world run azure on gold sands, and let their tongues run naked into books. ââ¬
